Round 1 kicked off a new season in glorious sunshine before the heavens opened late afternoon.

In their first grading game in Group 4 our Women had a strong win at St Marys Sallesians. At Hughes an understrength Thirds, with many regular faces missing for a wedding, performed admirably for a creditable loss to Old Scotch. The Under 19’s kicked off proceeding against Marcellin OC and acquitted themselves well before going down. And across town at University Oval, the Development Squad recorded a strong win against University Blacks.

Then came the wake up call no-one expected as Blacks jumped out of the blocks and led by almost 7 goals at one stage in the first quarter. It took a hurculean effort but, still trailing by 4 goals going into the last change, the boys powered home in driving rain to record a 2 point win.

A huge congratulations to Ed Weatherson who registered his 100th game for the Club.
